Volunteer Information

Marion County Fire District #1 formed over 30 years ago with the merger of the Brooks Rural Fire District and the Four Corners Fire District. The success behind combining two fire districts rested largely with Volunteer Firefighters providing services to the citizens of over 80 square miles of unincorporated property east of Salem and north of Keizer. Those service needs were almost exclusively met by Volunteers who gave their time and energy to ensure their families and neighbors would always have help if they ever needed it.

The largest and most valuable assets to our organization are Volunteers who call Marion County home. Marion County Fire District #1 meets the emergency needs of citizens with a diversified Career and Volunteer workforce. Our programs utilize Volunteers in many diverse capacities.

Our Volunteer programs are designed to meet the career goals of students, needs of established working families and provide opportunities for promotional development and success while receiving the rewards of helping those in their darkest hour.

Support Services, Resident Firefighter, Tour of Duty and the traditional Home Responder Volunteer Firefighter positions meet the needs of today’s Volunteers.

On behalf of our customers, we ask our Volunteers to be owners of the highest moral and ethical values. This is demonstrated in everything you do at home, on the job, at church and when nobody is watching. Signs of this include but are not limited to a clean driving record and a clean criminal history. Marion County Fire District Volunteers are committed to the team in accomplishing assignments; recognize the importance and values of respect, open communication and decorum. Our Volunteers own their successes while at the same time accept responsibility for their personal development needs.
